Teenager Snowboards By for a Post-Calmare Scrambler Therapy Update

February 28, 2019

Last summer, high school football player Austin arrived at our clinic using a cane and could not put weight on his leg/foot.

After surgery for a fractured fibula, he was soon diagnosed with CRPS which caused continued shooting pain; over time small treatment-resistant lesions began to develop on his affected foot (center image).

His family had read about our success treating these lesions and resulting chronic nerve pain from complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) using scrambler therapy.

They flew with Austin from the Southwest for him to undergo treatment and he achieved both pain relief and the lesions on his foot were more than 50% healed after his 2-week treatment (image on right).

Last week, Austin’s parents took the time to let us know how Austin is doing since his scrambler therapy:

Dr. Cooney,
Austin is doing wonderful. It has been a 180 since Calmare treatment, we are ever so grateful to you. Below is a video of him snowboarding!!!! Thank you again for all you do!
Forever Grateful,
Isabel, Duke and Austin

An update from Katie who is back in high school after Calmare Therapy

Katie TriosiApril 8, 2015 – Rutherford, NJ

Sixteen-year-old Katie was here for scrambler therapy treatment a few months ago after CRPS sidelined her from even going to high school. She missed nearly a year of school, which was so disappointing as she’s one of the brightest young women we’ve ever met!

Katie underwent 10 Calmare scrambler treatments at the same time as 87-year-old Ann. We created a video combining each of their stories here reflecting their wide range in age, but same positive outcome.

She posted this update today about how she is feeling and how school is going:

“Just wanted to post a quick update……I am still pain-free as a result of Calmare Therapy! Monday will be 2 months since my last treatment and I was pain-free 2 days before that!!!!!

I will have to repeat the eleventh grade unfortunately but I am applying to the advanced high school and if I get in I will be able to take high school courses and pre-med college courses so fingers crossed I get accepted.

Life has been looking up as I have been getting more into my old routine. I am taking courses online right now in Chemistry and Spanish so that I can finally finish the tenth grade!”
