74-Year-Old Cal Finally Defeats 50-Year-Old Chronic Pain

April 3, 2019

Seventy-four-year-old Retired U.S. Army Officer Cal suffered from chronic nerve pain below his knee after a battle injury 50 years ago. Three years ago, he underwent a second corrective surgery which left him with an infection and continued chronic pain in his left leg.

Over the years he tried several pain management treatments and drugs without success.

He read about other military personnel achieving pain relief with Calmare scrambler therapy and contacted Dr. Michael Cooney.

Tired of all the medications and invasive medical procedures, Cal chose Calmare scrambler therapy because it is:

Drug-free

• Painless

• FDA-cleared

• Side effect-free

Cal Describes His Calmare Scrambler Therapy

Since introducing scrambler therapy to his New Jersey pain management clinic in 2011, Dr. Michael Cooney has helped hundreds of people from around the world, including military personnel, battle neuropathic pain to reduce and even eliminate their chronic nerve pain.

Abraham Travels from Israel for Post-Surgical Neuropathy Relief

March 7, 2019

By Dr. Michael Cooney, Clinical Director

This week we welcomed 54-year-old Abraham back from Kiryat Ye’arim, Israel who first treated with us in 2015 and again 2017 for booster treatments to reduce his post-surgical neuropathy.

He returned this week for four booster treatments and added his pin to Israel on our Calmare patient map.

We are always amazed to discover how people with chronic pain discover us from around the world.

Abraham, first heard about Calmare scrambler therapy in 2015 after watching a promising story about scrambler therapy featured on the Charles Osgood File Report.

Abe, a rabbi who works in publishing, makes the long trip from Israel to our clinic in New Jersey to reduce or eliminate his chronic nerve pain, when the pain returns and begins to increase.

Some of our patients never require further treatment (Calmare booster therapy) while others with more severe conditions, or who suffered with treatment-resistant neuropathy for a year or more, may need occasional treatments, if the pain returns.

As I’ve said before, in many cases, the need for boosters is generally less frequent as time goes on and fewer sessions are required.

Speak with Dr. Cooney about Your Chronic Pain Condition

If you have been unsuccessful lessening or eliminating post-surgical neuropathy or other types of chronic nerve pain, I would be happy to discuss your case during a no-fee phone or video consultation.

Note that you should be in a position to travel to New Jersey, USA and lodge in the New York City/New Jersey area for a period of two weeks, should we mutually agree you are a viable candidate for this FDA-cleared pain management therapy.

To confirm a phone consultation, we invite you to email us at info@calmaretherapynj.com, call the clinic at 201.933.4440 or complete the card below and we’ll reach out to you within 72 hours.

Gina, who has been treating with us for post-surgical neuropathy, swears her little dog helps lessen stress and lower her pain level.

And I agree 100%.

If bringing your pet to your Calmare treatments makes you feel better, bring him or her along!

READ: “How Pets Can Help Lessen Chronic Pain” (Everyday Health)

We don’t operate like other pain management clinics,

Donna’s Nerve Entrapment and CRPS Pain Reduced by Calmare

August 28, 2018

CRPS
Donna Sisco, left, is shown with Dr. Michael Cooney and her sister Debbie.

From traditional pain management and prescription medications to platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, from acupuncture to the use of a tens unit, nothing could reduce Donna Sisco’s chronic nerve pain after total knee replacement surgery in 2012.

At age 61, she began to feel that hope was lost. But after finding an online support group for people living with CRPS, she heard about Calmare scrambler therapy and the success of Dr. Michael Cooney at Calmare Therapy NJ USA.

With her sister along for support, the siblings flew 3,000 miles to New Jersey with equal amounts of hope and skepticism.

Why Diagnostic BrainSpan™ is a key asset to your Calmare Therapy protocol.

“I can’t blame patients who feel reservations about Calmare,” says Dr. Cooney. “These people have tried traditional pain management, bags full of prescription medication and even more invasive procedures–and still live with chronic pain.”

When Donna arrived in New Jersey, her pain level was a consistent 7/10 and she battled with the additional side effects of CRPS–pins and needles, sensitivity to touch, hair loss.

Steadily each day, she had a scrambler therapy treatment, lasting about 35 minutes. The therapy has no side effects and is pain-free.

After 10 scrambler therapy treatments (once daily), her pain level steadily decreased to a 0-2/10 by the time she left our clinic last week.

Calmare Keeps Tonya’s CRPS from Spreading

March 23, 2018

Tonya Schuler, a full-of-life fitness trainer from West Virginia, was diagnosed with CRPS after carpal tunnel surgery. The chronic pain started in one hand and soon spread to the other.

From there, the neuropathy affected her neck, back and stomach.

After trying a myriad of prescription pain drugs, injections and invasive procedures, her pain management doctor eventually recommended she have a spinal cord stimulator (SCS) surgically implanted into her back.

“When I realized an SCS was the final treatment option, I knew I had to take matters into my own (painful) hands and reach out to the CRPS community,” explains.

“A Facebook group that included thousands of other sufferers consistently mentioned Dr. Cooney and Calmare for helping reduce their pain, even for full-body sufferers.”

“Beyond Opiates, The Future of Pain Management” (WebMD)

Tonya says she sent off an email to him (calmarenj@gmail.com) and he called her the next day.

Robert Welcomes 2018 by Eliminating His Chronic Nerve Pain

January 12, 2018

Bergen County, New Jersey

pain management
Robert adds his hometown pin to our Global Patient Map at Calmare NJ

Robert, a married teacher with two children from Georgia, was battling chronic nerve pain after foot surgery in 2013.

As the school track coach, his pain condition began to interfere with his mobility, making coaching difficult and frustrating.

For pain management, Robert chose not to use prescription painkillers and preferred to aggressively fight back by undergoing an additional ‘corrective’ surgery, physical therapy, use of a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, bone stimulation and orthotics.

And still, he was battling nerve pain in his right foot daily.

Researching Drug-Free Pain Management Options

He began researching non-invasive, alternative medicine options which treat neuropathic pain and discovered Calmare Therapy, performed by leading Calmare Certified provider, clinical director Dr. Michael Cooney in New Jersey.

While he was never officially diagnosed with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), Robert was experiencing the same type and severity of symptoms.

He consulted by phone with Dr. Cooney about his medical history and pain treatment goals and they mutually agreed that he was a suitable candidate to undergo the treatment.

When Robert arrived in New Jersey, his pain level was a 6 / 10. He immediately began daily therapy sessions over the course of the next two weeks.

By the end of the series of scrambler therapy treatments, he was pain-free, with only a mild tingling sensation over the surgical scars.

Our team was delighted to see a very different Robert leave the clinic:

He was smiling again and looking forward to getting back to school and resuming his track team coaching.

Good luck Coach!

Woman from South America Finds CRPS Relief at Calmare Therapy NJ USA

December 15, 2017

El síndrome de dolor regional complejo (SDRC)

Juana adding her pin to our Calmare global patient map.

Juana, age 44, from Columbia, was diagnosed in 2009 with CRPS in both legs after an injury and eventual surgery.

En español es síndrome de dolor regional complejo (SDRC) también llamado distrofia simpática refleja.

Over the years, she was prescribed a lengthy list of prescription medications to lessen her chronic pain, including Ketamine, epidurals and nerve blocks.

These efforts provided no pain relief and her symptoms expanded to include:

  • allodynia
  • numbness
  • tingling
  • sensitivity to temperature changes
  • intermittent burning
  • pins and needles sensations

Juana and her husband discovered Dr. Michael Cooney‘s use of Calmare scrambler therapy as a pain management therapy to lessen the symptoms of CRPS.

What is Calmare and How Can It Relieve Chronic Nerve Pain?

After a video conference consultation, the wife and mother of two children was approved to undergo therapy and the couple arrived in New Jersey, USA in early December, 2017.

When Juana presented at our clinic, her pain level was a consistent 9/10, and had been at this level for some time.

After reviewing her medical records, Dr. Cooney formulated a treatment plan for optimal placement of the Calmare leads, in conjunction with her original pain regions.

Calmare Is a Provider-Dependent Therapy.  Know Your Provider
Dr. Michael Cooney, Juana and her husband during her Calmare Therapy treatments in New Jersey, USA.

“While Juana was experiencing a very high pain level, I had treated other patients with her similar medical history and felt confident we would achieve a positive outcome,” Dr. Cooney explains.

Each day, Juana received a single scrambler therapy treatment and then returned to her hotel to rest.

After a full week of Calmare treatments, her pain had reduced to a 5/6; at the conclusion of her 10 sessions, her pain has reduced to a 2/3 for the first time in nearly eight years.

In addition, her additional physical symptoms noted above are now gone, with the exception of slight temperature sensitivity and pins and needles. (This may be due to the extreme cold temperatures we are experiencing in New Jersey now.)

“Of course we strive to send every patient home with no pain–but that is not possible for everyone,” Dr. Cooney noted.

“But living with a pain level this low (2/3) allows the person to fully engage in life again and resume normal functioning.”

The Certified Calmare provider remarked that Juana was extremely pleased with her outcome.

Juana was also in touch with another woman living with CRPS from Ecuador, who is currently undergoing treatment with us this week.

U.S. Army Soldier Finds Relief from Full Body CRPS

October 9, 2017

We were honored to meet and provide Calmare scrambler therapy treatment for Jay Szymczak a few weeks ago.

Jay underwent two back surgeries while in the Army, eventually resulting in CRPS, which spread throughout his body. Those of you suffering with this monster will appreciate his description of the type of pain he endured for years.

Eventually forced to retire from the Military, he discovered Calmare after performing research on newer alternative pain management treatments with his wife after pain medications, medical cannabis and a plethora of invasive treatments still left him in debilitating pain.

“Jay’s treatment outcome reminds us why we continue to fight this fight every single day,” says Calmare Clinical Director Dr. Michael Cooney, who treated Jay. “He’s a wonderful husband and father who served his country proudly. He certainly deserves to live pain-free.”

Jay sums it up best in his video below. “I have my life back.”
