Calmare Scrambler Therapy Featured in Alternative Pain Directory

October 1, 2019

Cindy Perlin and her team at the Alternative Pain Directory invited Dr. Cooney to share an article about the benefits of Calmare scrambler therapy, which you can read here:

New Nerve Pain Therapy: Fast, Safe, Powerful Relief
Excerpt:

Our nation desperately needs to evolve beyond the outdated notion that there is a pill to cure
everything, particularly in the case of acute and chronic pain management.

The majority of patients we treat with scrambler therapy come to us frustrated and exhausted after enduring months and years of searching for chronic pain relief. They have often resorted to unproven surgeries, experimental procedures or powerful prescription pain medications, leaving them mentally and physically debilitated by the drugs’ side effects, and still in pain.

Scrambler therapy is a unique approach to retraining the brain by correcting the misfiring pain
message.

There are no inherent risks to undergoing scrambler therapy. As I tell everyone who prepares to undergo the therapy, the only negative to this therapy is that it may not work for you, which happens in a small minority of cases.

We can tell within the first few sessions whether you are a good candidate.

It has no side effects, is not painful to undergo and is drug-free.”

We would love to tell you more about the potential pain relief you may experience by having Calmare Therapy.

Dr. Cooney speaks personally with every scrambler therapy candidate, as the therapy is not right for everyone.

Complete the eCard below and Dr. Cooney will reach out to you directly, or call our clinic located just outside New York City at 201-933-4440.

Meet 30 Calmare Therapy NJ Patients on YouTube

October 23, 2018

By Dr. Michael Cooney, Clinical Director, Calmare Therapy NJ USA

Most people who visit our website are already frustrated with the medical community.

They or a loved one are in pain.

Pain medication is not pain management, they have learned firsthand.

But a myriad of painful procedures, surgery and implanted devices have also failed to do their jobs.

Then what?

From unexplained neuropathy after surgery to diabetic neuropathy or pain after chemotherapy , too many people are left with unresolved neuropathy.

And they continue to lead debilitated lives, so unfairly.

I came to this conclusion years ago, which is what compelled me to launch Calmare scrambler, an FDA-cleared alternative therapy here in New Jersey in 2011.

Mayo Clinic Researchers Test Scrambler Therapy for Pain

It has no side effects, is painless to undergo. It’s drug-free. The worst case scenario is that the treatment does not work, which happens.

But in more than 75% of the patients we treat, their pain is significantly reduced–or eliminated.

Watch and listen to the patients for whom we have relieved severe chronic pain over the years–

From 10-year-old children to seniors who had battled neuropathy for decades, you will discover someone who has fought the same battle with pain that you do.

Then, we hope you’ll reach out via the contact form below, by emailing us at calmarenj@gmail.com or calling our clinic at (201) 933-4440.

Suffering with CRPS for 17 Years, Peter Brings Pain to 0

August 11, 2017

Addendum: October 24, 2017

Mr. Hinninger has written and published a book about his Calmare Therapy experience. It is available on Amazon.com:

“Peter’s Foot – Calmare Therapy for RSD Pain Relief”

It’s hard to imagine battling pain for 17 years, but Peter Hinninger fought back with everything traditional medicine had to offer–including the strongest opioids on the market.

Yielding no marked relief, he had a spinal cord stimulator implanted in his back.

And, still, his pain level hovered around a 7-8/10, which debilitates you to a point that you are forced to the sidelines of living.

Peter widened his search for pain relief through alternative medicine solutions that would not involve more surgery,  more pain or mental fogginess.

He discovered Calmare and spoke directly with clinical director Dr. Michael Cooney to determine if he was a candidate.

Since scrambler therapy has no side effects, they agreed the only risk would be that the treatment did not lessen his pain.

Peter describes what happened next:

Teenager with CRPS Receives an Early Christmas Present After Calmare

December 22, 2016

Brysen is shown with the Calmare MC-5A device leads on his neck, which are transmitting ‘no pain’ messages to his brain via varied algorithms. It is a painless process with no side effects.

Brysen is a 16-year-old from New Jersey. He arrived at our clinic on December 5, 2016, for treatment of CRPS, which he developed following surgery for a closed wrist reduction one year ago. The pain was concentrated in his left leg and arm.

He had previously been prescribed a number of anticonvulsants medications for pain management, which were not successful.

When he arrived at our clinic in New Jersey, his pain level was at a 7/10 which had escalated to as high as a 10/10. He was also prescribed Amitriptyline.

Prior to coming to the Calmare NJ clinic, Brysen had completed an intensive physical therapy regime at the renowned Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).

The teenager underwent 10 daily treatments of scrambler therapy which lasted about 35-minutes each. By treatment number three, he began to realize a pain reduction in both his leg and arm. As the treatments continued, his pain level continued to plummet.

Brysen’s Patient Outcome After Calmare Therapy for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

Tomorrow he will complete his final treatment, but as of today, he is pain-free.

Additionally, he is no longer taking any pain medication.

He and his family will be leaving shortly for a vacation in Hawaii.

We have a feeling this is going to be a very special Christmas for Brysen and his family.

Merry Christmas!

Post Herpetic Neuralgia (PHN) patient conducts exhaustive research on drug-free pain treatment and finally discovers relief with Calmare Therapy

(For privacy purposes, Joan prefers to publish her first name only).
anon woman in silhouetteJoan’s education and livelihood has been centered in the field of healthcare. She earned degrees in health science as well as a nursing degree (RN). Her career spans more than 30 years working as an executive in a pharmaceutical company and in private consulting.

In 2005, she was diagnosed with shingles and has suffered from post hepatic neuropathy (PHN) ever since. Joan was not content to simply take pain medications for the rest of her life (the dosages were high and she experienced unpleasant side effects). Below, Joan shares firsthand how her discovery of Calmare Therapy finally lessened her chronic neuropathy and improved her quality of life exponentially.

Joan’s Story
“I left no stone unturned in my search for relief from PHN’s severe nerve shocks that strike at any given time. The symptoms that I suffer from are intensive nerve pain shocks that happen almost nonstop and painful skin sensitivity (allodynia) that renders me unable to wear certain fabrics or allow anyone to touch the affected side of my back. It becomes very hard to relax and the pain causes me to hold a lot of stress in my body. I was an out-patient at a renowned New York City pain center for a number of years where I was prescribed many different pain medications; underwent several painful and invasive nerve block procedures and even tried deep brain stimulation treatments. Sad to say, none of these efforts resulted in any significant improvement in my pain.

At the onset of my illness, I was prescribed Lyrica and the dosage gradually crept up until I was taking 600mg, much higher than the recommended daily dosage of 300mg. I was on this regime for a couple of years. Then I changed physicians and was prescribed a compounded topical cream in addition to the Lyrica. This medication regimen offered me some relief, but if I missed a dose or did not apply the cream, the pain became very intense. Many nights, the shocks and firings from the nerve damage kept me awake.

Monthly pain management research
Each month since this happened to me, I sit down at my computer and research the latest findings and new therapies for pain neuropathy. When I discovered the clinical trial results for Calmare Therapy, published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management Continue reading “Post Herpetic Neuralgia (PHN) patient conducts exhaustive research on drug-free pain treatment and finally discovers relief with Calmare Therapy”
