Joy Returns for First Calmare Booster Treatments Since 2013

February 8, 2018

Joy Morris Booster_2.18One of our beloved patients, Joy Morris visited the clinic this week to undergo three  booster treatments.

In 2013, she arrived at Calmare NJ USA with a pain level of 10/10 due to RSD pain running from her left knee to her foot.

After her successful therapy, (she left New Jersey at a 0 / 10 pain level), her chronic pain from RSD diminished to the point that she no longer needed any of the 10 pain medications she was prescribed.

Living a Pain Medication-Free Life

Once Joy was free from all the pain pills, her overall health and well-being improved dramatically:

  • She began to have more energy and lost a significant amount of weight.
  • In turn, she soon no longer needed high blood pressure medication.
  • Joy no longer needs medication for elevated liver enzymes which returned to a normal range as a result of post-Calmare weight-loss and the elimination of pain drugs.

Joy Turns to Calmare Booster Treatments

But over the years, her CRPS pain level began to increase, eventually sticking at 5/10.

Joy’s RSD resulted in chronic pain running from her left knee to her foot.

She conferred with Dr. Cooney and he recommended she come to New Jersey to undergo three booster treatments and then access if this would be sufficient to control her pain again.

To everyone’s delight, after three Calmare Therapy sessions, she went home yesterday pain-free.

Joy shares her original treatment experience in 2013 below, on our YouTube channel:

Woman from South America Finds CRPS Relief at Calmare Therapy NJ USA

December 15, 2017

El síndrome de dolor regional complejo (SDRC)

Juana adding her pin to our Calmare global patient map.

Juana, age 44, from Columbia, was diagnosed in 2009 with CRPS in both legs after an injury and eventual surgery.

En español es síndrome de dolor regional complejo (SDRC) también llamado distrofia simpática refleja.

Over the years, she was prescribed a lengthy list of prescription medications to lessen her chronic pain, including Ketamine, epidurals and nerve blocks.

These efforts provided no pain relief and her symptoms expanded to include:

  • allodynia
  • numbness
  • tingling
  • sensitivity to temperature changes
  • intermittent burning
  • pins and needles sensations

Juana and her husband discovered Dr. Michael Cooney‘s use of Calmare scrambler therapy as a pain management therapy to lessen the symptoms of CRPS.

What is Calmare and How Can It Relieve Chronic Nerve Pain?

After a video conference consultation, the wife and mother of two children was approved to undergo therapy and the couple arrived in New Jersey, USA in early December, 2017.

When Juana presented at our clinic, her pain level was a consistent 9/10, and had been at this level for some time.

After reviewing her medical records, Dr. Cooney formulated a treatment plan for optimal placement of the Calmare leads, in conjunction with her original pain regions.

Calmare Is a Provider-Dependent Therapy.  Know Your Provider
Dr. Michael Cooney, Juana and her husband during her Calmare Therapy treatments in New Jersey, USA.

“While Juana was experiencing a very high pain level, I had treated other patients with her similar medical history and felt confident we would achieve a positive outcome,” Dr. Cooney explains.

Each day, Juana received a single scrambler therapy treatment and then returned to her hotel to rest.

After a full week of Calmare treatments, her pain had reduced to a 5/6; at the conclusion of her 10 sessions, her pain has reduced to a 2/3 for the first time in nearly eight years.

In addition, her additional physical symptoms noted above are now gone, with the exception of slight temperature sensitivity and pins and needles. (This may be due to the extreme cold temperatures we are experiencing in New Jersey now.)

“Of course we strive to send every patient home with no pain–but that is not possible for everyone,” Dr. Cooney noted.

“But living with a pain level this low (2/3) allows the person to fully engage in life again and resume normal functioning.”

The Certified Calmare provider remarked that Juana was extremely pleased with her outcome.

Juana was also in touch with another woman living with CRPS from Ecuador, who is currently undergoing treatment with us this week.

Star Celebrates Overcoming CRPS Pain with Calmare Therapy

April 18, 2017

Human Resource Manager Star from Alabama battled CRPS for seven years. Since 2010, she tried all the prescription pain medications and (often painful) invasive treatments, without success.

Meanwhile, her pain level continued to increase.

By chance, she discovered Calmare Therapy on Facebook.

After performing due diligence about the treatment and its success treating CRPS, she chose Dr. Michael Cooney to perform her therapy.

Star had lower extremity pain (concentrated in the knee region) and underwent the Calmare 10-treatment series in 2015.

She came in for one (1) booster treatment in the fall of 2016 when she experienced an increase in her pain level.

Star gave us permission to share her recent Facebook post about how she feels today (4/15/17):

Pattie from Australia: “We just didn’t give up hope”

July 24, 2015

Pattie from Australia_bestLast year, Pattie, our first of several patients from Australia, traveled to New Jersey, USA to try Calmare scrambler therapy. Developing a severe case of CRPS after knee replacement surgery, she had been through many unsuccessful treatments to overcome her severe post-surgical chronic pain.

When doctors eventually suggested implanting a spinal cord stimulator (SCS), Pattie and her husband concluded it was time to take matters into their own hands and find a solution to her CRPS on their own.

Researching Chronic Pain Alternative Treatments

After months of research, they discovered Calmare and learned that we specialize in RSD /CRPS treatment.

When we met Pattie after her arduous 24-hour flight, she was taking nearly 30 pain medications daily (which, sadly, is not unusual).

And so, we went to work.

Pattie Achieves 0 Pain Level and Dissolution of her CRPS Symptoms

After 11 treatments (she achieved a 0 pain level by the 10th treatment) Pattie left the U.S. pain-free in all parts of her body–including her knee–for the first time since her surgery three years ago (watch her personal video recap).

Our Calmare NJ family and her family will be friends for life, regardless of the fact that we live nearly 12,000 apart…

Pattie went back to Perth and was interviewed by the TV News where she shared her Calmare success story.

Pattie Sends an Update a Year Later

This busy wife and mother of four children sent us an update yesterday saying,

“Since my last treatment with you and at home I have been in remission from my CRPS pain and I’m down to only 3 meds a day–that’s a big difference from 30 meds a day! So life is better each day thanks to your dedication & kindness and your wonderful staff. Today I saw a pain specialist and he can’t believe I’m recovering from CRPS. He is now asking about Calmare! He said to me ‘you are a very lucky girl’ and I said it wasn’t luck at all. We just didn’t give up on ‘hope’. Thank you Doc for saving my life. Best wishes Pattie”
