U.S. Army Soldier Finds Relief from Full Body CRPS

October 9, 2017

We were honored to meet and provide Calmare scrambler therapy treatment for Jay Szymczak a few weeks ago.

Jay underwent two back surgeries while in the Army, eventually resulting in CRPS, which spread throughout his body. Those of you suffering with this monster will appreciate his description of the type of pain he endured for years.

Eventually forced to retire from the Military, he discovered Calmare after performing research on newer alternative pain management treatments with his wife after pain medications, medical cannabis and a plethora of invasive treatments still left him in debilitating pain.

“Jay’s treatment outcome reminds us why we continue to fight this fight every single day,” says Calmare Clinical Director Dr. Michael Cooney, who treated Jay. “He’s a wonderful husband and father who served his country proudly. He certainly deserves to live pain-free.”

Jay sums it up best in his video below. “I have my life back.”

#1 Top Trend for Pain Management in 2017: Alternative Therapies

February 15, 2017

By Dr. Michael J. Cooney, Clinical Director

yahoo-news-logoThere has not been a lot of good news about pain management in the medical arena lately.

(If you are reading this message, you or a loved one may be battling chronic pain, so I don’t need to rehash what you already know.)

Clearly, opioids and peripheral drugs that fall into that category, are often not the solution to many types of pain.

I was delighted to read Yahoo’s predictions that put “Growth in Alternative Therapies” at the top of their list for pain management solutions that would garner the most attention this year.

We launched Calmare at our New Jersey pain management clinic in 2011 as an alternative emi-hewatt-having-calmare-treatment-_10-16neuropathic pain solution for people who have already endured invasive (painful) treatments, inpatient procedures, surgery and baskets full of prescription painkillers that didn’t work.

Not only can opioids fail to provide lasting pain relief, their side effects can be worse than the pain.

Alternative therapies, like scrambler therapy, take a less invasive approach and many have achieved outstanding clinically-proven outcomes for people battling a plethora of chronic pain conditions.

Tools for Choosing Your Alternative Medicine Provider

If you are seeking alternative treatment, perform due diligence beforehand–

  • Find out what clinical trials have been conducted on patients by medical research professionals and read the reports/findings.calmare-patient2patient
  • Ask the provider to put you in touch with other patients who have the same condition so you can gauge their feedback and outcome in making your decision to proceed.
  • Speak with your medical insurer to determine how you can submit for coverage, either in advance or by post-treatment reimbursement.
  • Call the clinic and speak with the doctor who would be treating you. Is he/she performing a sales pitch or asking about your medical history, previous treatment efforts, medication usage and ultimate goal for pain therapy?

Finally, don’t assume the physician currently treating your neuropathy is familiar with the alternative treatment you are considering. Even today, many doctors are often most comfortable with ‘traditional’ medical treatments.

While I certainly respect that position, what is the treatment plan for the patient who has undergone all the traditional medical therapies–without success?

Caitlyn returns 10 months later for a Calmare booster treatment

January 15, 2013

caitlyn's DadMost of our Calmare patients have driven around the chronic-pain-treatment-block more times than they can count. Eventually, some become skeptical and less hopeful that a new treatment will work (rightfully so). Caitlyn was here at the beginning of 2012 with her father for treatment of RSD which she had lived with for three long years.  Her father readily admitted he feared Calmare was another “snake oil” therapy but he also refused to give up the fight to help his 16-year-old daughter. If you recall, her outcome was fantastic.  Mr. Bailor shared his experience here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bijXl243VGs.

Caitlyn is in town for one or two booster treatments. Due to the severity of her case, my presumption was that she would be back during the summer.  I was very pleased to be wrong, in this case.
