Calmare Booster Therapy Reduces Fibromyalgia and CRPS Pain Recurrence

May 22, 2017

For patients with diagnosed chronic nerve pain conditions appropriate for Calmare Therapy, the standard treatment protocol is one daily treatment for 10 days.

Depending on the severity of the original condition, and the length of time the patient lived with chronic pain, periodic booster treatments may be required to combat any return of pain.

Keep in mind, many of our patients never need further therapy but in RSD / CRPS cases, and other conditions resulting in prolonged and severe chronic pain, ‘boosters’ can be extremely useful against any eventual elevation in pain.

Danielle – Teen CRPS

High school student Danielle was with us last year for successful #CRPS treatment after her family had exhausted all other drug and treatment options. She left pain-free and in remission.

Over time, her pain level slowly increased. Rather than wait for the pain to take over again, Danielle and her mother, a registered nurse,  returned to the clinic last week to have four booster treatments.

She left us on Friday pain-free again.

Catherine Miller – Fibromyalgia

Catherine, a 50-something professional who works at a local university in Pennsylvania, had no success getting pain relief for her diagnosed fibromyalgia. But it certainly wasn’t for a lack of trying. After years of  doctor and hospital visits, medications, steroids, epidurals and physical therapy, she was still in the same degree of pain.

She heard about our work treating fibromyalgia (FMS) and underwent the 10-treatment series in 2016. (Read her full story here).

When her pain levels also crept back, she came in last week for five booster treatments (one per day).

On Friday, she posted on our Facebook timeline:

Feeling grateful!

Calmare NJ did it again! Five booster treatments 8 1/2 months after my first time is getting my neuropathic / neuralgia pain and fibromyalgia back under control once again. Thank you Calmare!

How many booster treatments will I need?

The number of booster treatments required ranges from a single session to five or more treatments.

Calmare patients who experience a recurrence of pain should document when the pain returns, subsides and what environmental issues were involved (stress, weather conditions, excessive use of the affected area) or if there was no specific cause for the elevation of pain.

Over time, the need for booster treatments may become less frequent and fewer treatments may be needed.

Have medications and invasive treatments still left you in pain?

Calmare is a newer treatment for combatting chronic nerve pain as a result of injury, surgery or disease. While it isn’t right for every person battling chronic pain, clinical director Dr. Michael Cooney and his Calmare NJ USA team have helped hundreds of people from around the world to regain control of their lives by lessening or alleviating their neuropathic pain.

Call our friendly and experienced pain management team at (201) 933-4440 to speak with Dr. Cooney. He also pre-schedules no-fee phone-in or FaceTime consultations with people from outside the United States every week.

Dr. Michael Cooney discusses Calmare Therapy booster treatment therapy

In video format, Dr. Michael Cooney discusses Calmare booster treatments and why they can be helpful to some patients, particularly those with severe RSD / CRPS, after the standard ten 45-minute treatment protocol has been completed. For many patients, one, two or three additional treatments, months or even years after the initial therapy, can help alleviate any reoccurrence of pain.  To learn more, Dr. Cooney also outlined the booster program here.   Gina, one of our RSD patients from here in New Jersey, sent us this great message after her booster session in July
