PHN nerve pain can be reduced with calmare scrambler therapy

Schedule your no-fee consultation to speak with clinical director Dr. Michael Cooney to discuss your treatment-resistant postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) and how Calmare’s non-invasive therapy can significantly help relieve this type of nerve pain. Shingles is also known as herpes zoster, a painful skin rash caused by the varicella-zoster virus.

Some people with Shingles, generally people over age 65, develop a notoriously painful condition called postherpetic neuralgia (PHN).

According to the Centers for Disease Control, PHN risk increases with age; additional predictors include pain level during the active Shingles condition and the size of rash.

Another reason for PHN’s notoriety is that traditional medicine often fails to successfully reduce the severe chronic nerve pain, leaving Shingles survivors significantly physically debilitated and diminishing their quality of life.

PHN is a notoriously difficult chronic pain condition to treat

Traditional medicine generally prescribes the usual regimen of prescription painkillers to lessen pain, along with invasive treatments, usually in the nerve block injection family.

These efforts, much like so many people battling chronic pain from other conditions, fail to offer sustained pain relief, or their success dwindles over time.

Here at Calmare Therapy New Jersey, we are achieving very positive pain reduction outcomes treating patients with postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) using non-invasive and drug-free scrambler therapy.

One of the specific reasons I introduced the Calmare MC-5A device was the wide-ranging chronic nerve pain conditions suitable for non-invasive scrambler therapy.

Since 2011, we have successfully helped people with PHN and even eliminated the chronic nerve pain entirely in some patient cases.

But using non-invasive Calmare Therapy, I have achieved some outstanding patient outcomes and have been delighted to see these patients’ quality of life escalate after 10 scrambler therapy treatments.

Joan shares a letter about her Calmare research and firsthand PHN treatment experience.

Shingles and chronic pain researchers around the US agree, based upon their clinical trials using the Calmare device to treatment PHN pain:

Dr. Thomas Smith, director of Palliative Care at the Sydney Kimmel Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins University, performed a clinical trial where they achieved an outstanding 95% reduction in pain a month after the treatment with no side effects.

Journal of pain and symptom management

Another study recently published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management with 52 random pain participants compared guideline-based drug management with the scrambler. The Calmare participants had a 91 percent reduction in pain compared to a 28 percent reduction in pain for those who used drug management.

ACOS

The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) completed a clinical trial on the benefits of scrambler therapy:

“Scrambler therapy appears to have a promising effect on post-herpetic neuropathy (PHN) with prompt and continued relief and no side effects.”

The Shingles Vaccine

If you are over age 60, talk to your doctor about getting the shingles vaccine. The benefits are twofold: they reduce your risk of developing shingles; if you do develop shingles, you’ll be more likely to have a mild case, and far less likely to develop PHN.

If you have any questions about PHN and how scrambler therapy may help treat your neuropathic pain, call our pain management team at (201) 933-4440. I will be happy to speak with you personally about your case.

We introduced Calmare Therapy at our New Jersey medical practice in 2011 precisely because pain medications and painful treatments don’t help many people relieve their neuropathies.

Calmare Scrambler Therapy Featured in Alternative Pain Directory

October 1, 2019

Cindy Perlin and her team at the Alternative Pain Directory invited Dr. Cooney to share an article about the benefits of Calmare scrambler therapy, which you can read here:

New Nerve Pain Therapy: Fast, Safe, Powerful Relief
Excerpt:

Our nation desperately needs to evolve beyond the outdated notion that there is a pill to cure
everything, particularly in the case of acute and chronic pain management.

The majority of patients we treat with scrambler therapy come to us frustrated and exhausted after enduring months and years of searching for chronic pain relief. They have often resorted to unproven surgeries, experimental procedures or powerful prescription pain medications, leaving them mentally and physically debilitated by the drugs’ side effects, and still in pain.

Scrambler therapy is a unique approach to retraining the brain by correcting the misfiring pain
message.

There are no inherent risks to undergoing scrambler therapy. As I tell everyone who prepares to undergo the therapy, the only negative to this therapy is that it may not work for you, which happens in a small minority of cases.

We can tell within the first few sessions whether you are a good candidate.

It has no side effects, is not painful to undergo and is drug-free.”

We would love to tell you more about the potential pain relief you may experience by having Calmare Therapy.

Dr. Cooney speaks personally with every scrambler therapy candidate, as the therapy is not right for everyone.

Celebrating a Year Defeating Chronic Pain

December 31, 2018

By Dr. Michael J. Cooney, Clinical Director

We are celebrating a banner year here at Calmare Therapy NJ USA.

In 2018, we treated the highest number of people with chronic nerve pain since we began using scrambler therapy in 2011.

From children and teens to adults and seniors, our non-invasive therapy is quietly giving people their lives back, free of pain.

We helped people battling CRPS, PHN, nerve pain after chemotherapy (CIPN) and prolonged pain after surgery (post-surgical pain).

For the first time, we also began treating people with treatment-resistant low back pain and sciatica and are very excited by these patients’ strong pain relief outcomes. (More on that in early 2019).

You have my word, we have not even begun the fight yet.

If you have been unsuccessful lessening your pain with medication or other pain management therapies, please contact us to discuss your neuropathic pain condition.

Most importantly, don’t give up the fight. Don’t give up hope.

Meet 30 Calmare Therapy NJ Patients on YouTube

October 23, 2018

By Dr. Michael Cooney, Clinical Director, Calmare Therapy NJ USA

Most people who visit our website are already frustrated with the medical community.

They or a loved one are in pain.

Pain medication is not pain management, they have learned firsthand.

But a myriad of painful procedures, surgery and implanted devices have also failed to do their jobs.

Then what?

From unexplained neuropathy after surgery to diabetic neuropathy or pain after chemotherapy , too many people are left with unresolved neuropathy.

And they continue to lead debilitated lives, so unfairly.

I came to this conclusion years ago, which is what compelled me to launch Calmare scrambler, an FDA-cleared alternative therapy here in New Jersey in 2011.

Mayo Clinic Researchers Test Scrambler Therapy for Pain

It has no side effects, is painless to undergo. It’s drug-free. The worst case scenario is that the treatment does not work, which happens.

But in more than 75% of the patients we treat, their pain is significantly reduced–or eliminated.

Watch and listen to the patients for whom we have relieved severe chronic pain over the years–

From 10-year-old children to seniors who had battled neuropathy for decades, you will discover someone who has fought the same battle with pain that you do.

Then, we hope you’ll reach out via the contact form below, by emailing us at calmarenj@gmail.com or calling our clinic at (201) 933-4440.

Calmare Therapy NJ USA Expands Again

September 10, 2018

By Dr. Michael J. Cooney Clinical Director

Calmare Certified Provider

By Dr. Michael J. Cooney, Clinical Director

I’ve been in the pain management field since Gerald Ford was president. Over the course of my career, I’ve seen countless pain management therapies and pain medications come and go.

During all of those years, I’ve never seen patient outcomes come anywhere close to what we have achieved with Calmare scrambler therapy.

Calmare NJ USA Patient Testimonials on YouTube

Since we introduced “the scrambler” in 2011, we have watched children, teens, adults and seniors’ lives transformed by its uncanny ability to reduce or eliminate chronic pain (neuropathy).

We have been able to help people who had already tried all the drugs, the invasive therapies, the painful procedures and the failed surgeries, without success.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think people in pain would travel to us for treatment from Australia, South Africa, South America, Europe and Canada.

Over 25% of Americans with Chronic Pain Affected by High Impact Chronic Pain (MD Magazine)

After careful thought and consideration, I have decided to close our physical therapy and chiropractic practice to free up my time to help more people fighting chronic pain as a result of:

* Surgery
* Cancer treatment (CIPN)
* Shingles (PHN)
* CRPS
* Fibromyalgia
* Diabetic neuropathy
* Other nerve pain conditions

Don’t get me wrong–scrambler therapy doesn’t work wonders for everyone, unfortunately. It is not a miracle treatment and you’ll never hear me say that it is.

But in the majority of people I have treated,
the pain reduction results have been life-changing.

So starting today, we will be able to help more people, provide quicker service and offer a broader range of appointments.

If you’re ready to try a newer way to fight pain, you’ve come to the right place.

Here’s to winning the war on pain, one patient at a time.

Pain News Network Cites Calmare as Pain Reduction Champion

June 29, 2017

pain-news-network

Barby Ingle, a global chronic pain educator, patient advocate, and president of the International Pain Foundation, who lives with reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD), migralepsy and endometriosis, published a commentary this week in Pain News Network, citing Calmare Therapy as a key alternative medicine treatment for chronic nerve pain.

Excerpt:

“The provider I hear about the most having success with this form of treatment is Dr. Michael Cooney, a chiropractor practicing in New Jersey who sees patients from all over country.”

Ms. Ingle also refers to Calmare Therapy NJ clinical director Dr. Michael Cooney’s Pain News Network guest editorial  describing how scrambler therapy is a side-effect-free and drug-free alternative to help lessen or even resolve treatment- and medication-resistant chronic pain.

Calmare Therapy is an FDA-cleared neuropathic pain treatment for several conditions including injury, post-surgical pain, CRPS / RSD, postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) as a result of shingles, fibromyalgia, nerve pain after chemotherapy treatment (CIPN), diabetic nerve pain and other types of diagnosed nerve damage.

“I hear more than ever from others living with chronic pain that they “have tried everything” and nothing helps. But there are always new pain therapies being developed or improved; some real, some placebo, and some researched more than others.”

Barby Ingle
