RUTHERFORD, NJ─Calmare Therapy New Jersey, a partner practice with Rutherford Allied Medical Group, is now specializing in the use of Calmare Pain Therapy Treatment for patients living with reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) and chronic regional pain syndrome (CRPS). This specialization was announced after marked clinical success treating patients with these treatment and medication-resistant neuropathic diseases.
“We have consistently documented an 80 percent successful outcome rate treating RSD and CRPS patients using scrambler therapy,” says Dr. Michael J. Cooney, a doctor of chiropractic and one of 10 certified providers of Calmare in the U.S. “There are thousands of people living in severe pain every day with these diseases. I believe we can help most of them.”
Calmare, an FDA-cleared, pain-free, drug-free, scrambler therapy, is performed through very low doses of electricity transmitted through 16 different algorithms (electrodes) to disrupt the chronic pain loop message from the brain.
“I traveled 1,000 miles from Mississippi to see Dr. Cooney and try Calmare and it was worth every minute,” says Matt Hannon, a technology manager who contracted RSD in his left foot after a back surgery. “I needed only five of the 10 treatments because I was feeling 0 pain. Best of all, I am no longer using any pain medication.”

Bergen County doctor attracts chronic pain patients from as far away as Indiana
RUTHERFORD, NJ― After seeing the best pain management specialists in the country without finding relief, fibromyalgia and reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) patients from as far away as Indiana and South Carolina are coming to New Jersey for Calmare Pain Therapy Treatment performed by Dr. Michael J. Cooney of Rutherford Allied Medical Group. FDA-cleared Calmare Therapy is offered in fewer than 20 pain treatment facilities in theU.S.
Patients living with chronic pain, which plagues one in three Americans today, are no longer just filling the painkiller prescriptions some doctors hand them. Instead, they are taking charge and finding drug-free pain relief solutions their doctors sometimes claim don’t exist. Laura Miller, a 23-year-old RSD sufferer for five years, says her pain minimized her ability to enjoy life as a wife and teacher. “I had no strength to do anything─parties, going out to dinner with my husband, or hanging out with friends. I only slept and worked,” Miller says.
“A friend was treated in New Jerseywith Calmare and had a very positive outcome. With this knowledge, I knew I had to try it.” Twelve 45-minute treatments later, Laura Miller was able to walk barefoot, hug friends and “get back what the pain had taken away from me.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPMKYEtVsfQ.
Calmare Therapy is performed through very low doses of electricity transmitted from electrodes through the skin to the pain region which “scrambles” the message of pain from the brain to the nerves. It has successfully treated treatment-resistant pain as a result of injury, diabetic pain, cancer and chemotherapy treatment, RSD, fibromyalgia, radiating pain, back and neck pain, post surgical pain and general neuropathy. The U.S. Military announced it will introduce Calmare to treat wounded soldiers.

Rutherford Allied Medical first in NJ to offer Calmare Pain Therapy
RUTHERFORD, NJ―Rutherford Allied Medical Group is the first pain treatment facility in New Jersey to offer Calmare Pain Therapy Treatment®, non-invasive technology to treat patients suffering from chronic high-intensity pain, including oncologic and medication-resistant pain. The FDA has cleared the use of Calmare Therapy in the United States.
This pain-free therapy is appropriate for patients suffering from cancer and chemotherapy; pain as a result of chronic diseases such as diabetes, multiple sclerosis, arthritis; back and neck pain, failed back surgery syndrome and phantom limb pain. The Calmare device was developed by Giuseppe Marineo, DSc (doctor of science), a researcher and bioengineer at Delta Research & Development, Rome.
“Calmare offers medication-free pain relief for a wide spectrum of pain sufferers with no side effects,” said Michael J. Cooney, D.C., Rutherford Allied Medical Group. “It truly represents a new solution for people living with neuropathic pain.”
Calmare scrambler therapy is performed directly at the patient’s pain site using external electric stimulation to manipulate the signals flowing to the central nervous system. The process is transmitted through electrodes, similar to those used for an EKG (electrocardiogram). This low dose electricity “scrambles” pain messages sent to the brain replacing “pain” with a “no-pain” message. Therapy is performed for a minimum of 10 daily sessions, lasting 30 – 45 minutes in duration, on average.
Calmare therapy, performed on more than 3,000 patients worldwide, received FDA 510(k) clearance and medical device CE certification from the European Union. The Journal of Clinical Oncology recently reported Calmare therapy to be effective in helping cancer patients overcome chronic pain http://bit.ly/gQnnNT . Select U.S. hospitals, cancer treatment centers and pain management facilities now offer Calmare therapy, including Walter Reed Army Medical Center http://bit.ly/9VQy3L.
