Ten-year-old Zion experienced a fall in 2019, resulting in chronic pain in his hand, arm and eventually his upper back.

After endless pediatric pain management consultations and a plethora of lab tests, he was eventually diagnosed with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).

Zion’s mother, Laura, was told by pediatricians and neuropathic pain specialists that her son would require daily pain medication and live with some degree of pain for the rest of his life.

Laura refused to accept this future for her young son and began researching alternative treatments for Zion’s pediatric CRPS.

She discovered Dr. Michael Cooney and Calmare Therapy on a Facebook group for parents of children living with chronic pain.

Meet Laura and Zion in the video below:

Zion and his mother arrived in New Jersey from Florida in January 2021; upon arrival the young boy presented with these symptoms:

  • Chronic pain level ranging from 5 – 9/10
  • Allodynia
  • Skin discoloration
  • Burning and extreme sensitivity
  • Intermittent hand numbness

After 10 Calmare treatments, performed one-time daily, Zion was pain-free and his physical symptoms were visibly resolved.
