(Dianne was kind enough to ‘review’ us on our Calmare Facebook page this week and permitted us to share her review below):
“I have had Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy for years and years! After an accident at work, I required back surgery (which turned into 3) and after the last one, my left foot was insanely painful. It quickly spread throughout my entire body.
I have 2 spinal cord stimulators – one for my lower body and one for my upper body. I had a drug pump for years as well. I’ve had too many injections and blocks to even keep track of. I was in a wheelchair for years…
I originally had two Calmare treatments with chiropractor Dr. Michael Cooney (we’d gone up to visit with a friend from Australia who was having boosters) and got incredible relief from just the 2 treatments.
Since it worked so well – we (hubby and I) returned so that I could finish the full 10 sessions. Since my 10-treatment Calmare Therapy treatments:
- I’ve not had either SCS on (normally they NEVER were off as doing so would cause immediate swelling and increased pain)
- I’ve taken no meds during the day for pain and greatly reduced the night and morning meds!
I can say – for me – this has been the most wonderful treatment and it has worked!! I have had NO RSD pain thus far!
We stopped by out son’s on the way home and I played outside with them. Our 16-yr-old granddaughter said, “Granny, this is the FIRST time we’ve ever gotten to play outside with you!” To be able to be “normal” and do things we take for granted each day??
Even my kids and neighbors are amazed at just watching me walk!!
Downside? I have to get new shoes!! Lol. Not such a bad side!
But, I’m walking properly and all my shoes have this horrid wear pattern!! My back took a bit getting used to – finally being properly aligned while walking!! And geez, there are too many muscles complaining to me that they are being used and haven’t forever!!
doc, feel free to send folks to me who’d like to know MY experience with Calmare!
They will get the whole truth – pros and cons (cuz we know not everyone does get relief – especially as well as I have) but they will get questions answered!
And I love that I have 2 perspectives I can share – the personal — and from a nursing point of view!!
Non-invasive treatment that DOES help with RSD? I can’t tell you how wonderful it is has been!!”
